Remember sometime around this time last year, or maybe the year before that (if it was before then we'll just pretend) when your new computer worked perfectly? It only took seconds for your computer to boot up. Now you can take a shower, have breakfast and wash the dishes in the time it takes the start menu to show up. Why is your laptop running slow?

Your computer is similar to your car in that you need to maintain it. Ever notice the difference between an older well-maintained car and a car that was never maintained. The same differences exist between a well-maintained computer and one that is just worked to death.

To make your computer run faster you can just reformat the whole computer, although if you have a lot of information and programs on your computer then this may not seem like such an appealing task. Of course, you could just decide to bite the bullet, clean up your files, and eliminate what you don't need, burn all your files onto a CD. Save any programs you want and reformat. Yuck! What a job! This one is up to you.

Another option is to go into the registry and mess with these files. These files tell the computer how to work. Oh yeah, do you even know what or where the registry is?

The windows registry is where all of the main operating instructions for your computer, the software, and hardware are located. These little files can be changed, but really should only if you know what you are doing.

There are programs that help you clean the windows registry on your laptop. These are called windows registry cleaners, and can be found and downloaded to your computer.

Using one of these windows registry cleaners will tune up the windows registry and make your laptop run faster and more efficiently, just as a tune up does the same for your car.

A Windows registry tune up software is a piece of cake to use. You just download it, install it, and let it run a scan of your computer. When it finds all of the problems, then you just let the software fix it. That simple! No more slow running laptop.

About the Author:

Before letting someone else try to fix your computer, use a registry repair tool to get a free scan of your laptop to fix your laptop running slow

How to update your drivers.

By Baysil Steinberg

Your computer needs drivers to communicate with software, your printer, any internal or external devices, audio cards, video cards as well as network interface cards. When the driver is not functioning properly, the program associated with it will no longer function properly either. Printers stop working, software stops working, sound stops working and your video will stop working.

Sometimes when Windows updates it will cause a problem in a certain device. When it does, updating that driver usually fixes the problem for you. If a piece of software acts strangely or stops working all together, again updating that particular driver will usually eliminate the issue. Checking for updated drivers should be part of your routine maintenance regimen you perform on your computer. This ensures driver and program functionality.

Whether you are running an OEM computer such as a Dell of HP, or you purchased a in house built machine from the local computer guys, finding drivers can be as easy as going to the manufacturers website or as hard as trying to track down individual drivers for each piece of software, your printer, audio card, video card and network interface card. If you didnt save the disks that came with your programs then you will have to manually search online for those drivers.

Searching for drivers can be a long, drawn out process, and doesn't always turn up the exact driver you need. A good place to start is with the manufacturer of the device your trying to update. There are several websites available today that say they will locate all of your drivers for you.

If your not thrilled with the through of wasting time looking through manufacturer websites and search engines for the drivers you need to update, PC Updater is the answer for you. This program has an extensive database of drivers, including OEM driver. Why waste time, when there is no need to?

About the Author:

You can find out how to update drivers at the PC911 site. More precisely some of these registry files that increase in size or which are being modified are installed software files, profile files, preference files, and system policies files. If these files are not being used anymore or are not modified correctly it could impact the speed at which your computer runs.

As errors start to develop because of the Windows registry cleanup ineffectiveness, your PC will begin to falter and slow down in execution speed, and will continue to go in this downward trend of performance and even possibly render your PC inoperable unless the registry is repaired.

Installing hardware, deleting files, and changing folder preferences inefficiently updates the registry. If registry cleanup is not being processed the Windows registry also changes and builds in size when you install new software or remove old software from your system.

How many software programs are being created on a daily basis? Too many for Windows to watch and verify as non-adware and non-spyware applications. Windows cannot check all the software in the world for all the possible incompatibility issues and so the registry starts to make errors in the entries like run.dll errors. A reg cleaner is absolutely necessary to remove broken entries and correct inaccurate entries which then optimizes the registry and increases your computers speed.

The easiest and most effective solution for your registry error plague is to obtain a copy of a reg cleaner program which can display how many registry errors (sometimes in the hundreds) are inside your registry very quickly. A good reg cleaner will be a quick download and install and then all you have to do is click the scan button and the software and it will show an amount of errors within minutes and repair it in even less time. You should notice a new nimbleness to your PCs executions.

Top of the line reg cleaner software helps you to choose whether or not you wish to back up your entire registry and then restore it to its former bogged down state.

If you would like to schedule your routine registry cleaning, some of the better reg cleaner software also offer the function of setting up a scheduled cleanup time making the optimization of the registry of your PC even easier via a hands off approach.

To see some independent reviews of efficient reg cleaners that have even more options than were mentioned above just click on the links below and you'll have your PC speeding up in no time.

About the Author:

For autonomous critiques of reg cleaner software just click on the above link. We all know it's a bad thing, but it's important you understand what spyware is and why it has gotten such a bad rap.

Spyware refers to computer software that gets installed on your computer and goes on to cause malicious acts without your having a clue about what's going on. Spyware can initiate the following malicious activity:

1) Sniff out personal data and pass it on to the programmer of the spyware. There have been many cases where even financial data have been compromised.

2) Add all sorts of extra programs and add-ons to your computer which you haven't authorized. This is usually used to monitor your online activity and will cause your computer to run a lot slower than usual.

3) When you are online, you are redirected to certain websites that have other harmful files such as viruses or other infections.

4) Without you being aware, spyware can change the security settings you have on your computer so that your computer is at an increased risk of getting viruses or having personal information stolen.

As you can see, spyware can be a big headache!

Spyware is also notorious for slowing down your computer's performance and creating all sorts of pop-ups or annoying ads when you are online.

How does Spyware get into a computer?

Spyware is always introduced into a computer through deceptive means, and the user will have no clue when this infiltration happens. Here are some instances of how Spyware can enter your system:

1) Download programs that offer movie or music downloads. These are often offer for free and will automatically install spyware on your system.

2) Many programs that you download will come with spyware when you install them. These are usually "utility" type programs that offer some type of benefit - some examples are "toolbars" or foreign exchange rate calculators.

3) There are some spyware programs that will try to mimic your operating system's messages in order to get on your computer.

If you are using MS windows, you might get a popup with a message that looks like it's from your operating system, however when you click on it you end up installing some form of spyware.

How do you know if your computer is infected with spyware?

Most people will start to notice their computer starts to slow down and they may also get more advertisements popup when they are browsing. Spyware is famous for making computers run a little "sluggish" - this is one of the first signs that your computer is infected.

Apart from the slowing down factor, you cannot really tell if there's Spyware installed on your system. Many people will just assume something is wrong with the computer hardware when their system slows down, however spyware is often the cause.

If you haven't been paying attention to spyware, you must start doing something about it starting today!

Computer experts estimate that 9 out of every 10 computers have some form of spyware installed on them. It's crucial that you protect your system and personal information by using a top-ranked anti-spyware program.

Make sure you use a spyware remover that will scan your entire system for any existing infections, eliminate any malicious files it finds, and then provide full protection against future infections.

About the Author:

Click Here to find out how to run a free scan using the top-ranked spyware remover. There are a lot of different options out there - let's take a look at what you need to look for the make sure you are using the best anti-spyware program for your computer.

Spyware can cause a lot of damage to your PC. It can drastically slow down your computer and also puts your personal information at risk. It's extremely important that you protect your computer from these dangers.

Since there are so many different spyware removers available, we thought we would list a few key features you should always look for:

1) The capability to discover and destroy all types of spyware and adware

There are all sorts of infections that you need to protect your computer from - Spyware, adware, dialers, brower hijackers, trojans, flooders, keyloggers - the list is huge.

Obviously it isn't your job to know exactly what all of these infections are, but it is the job of your anti-spyware program! You better be sure your spyware remover is aware of all the different infections that are out there.

Make sure to look for a program that is comprehensive and powerful enough to detect all of these malicious programs and wipe them off your computer.

2) Automatic spyware definition updates

New spyware hits the internet every day. If you spyware remover doesn't know how to look for these new infections, your computer will never be fully protected.

It's important that your spyware remover automatically updates itself with the new spyware definitions. This allows the program to protect your computer from any new spyware floating around the internet.

3) Automatic Complete Computer Scans

I have something to admit - I forget a lot of things! And sometimes I'm just plain lazy.

For this reason, I always recommend using an anti-spyware program that has automatic system scans. This way you don't have to remember to open up the program and scan your system for infections each week. Instead, the program will automatically so this without you ever needing to do a thing.

4) Strong Customer Service

Although it's extremely rare that you would ever need technical support for a spyware remover (they really just run themselves once installed), I want to know that there is support available just in case it's ever needed.

To me, a company that offers quick support is dedicated to keeping their customers happy. It's a sign of a company that is putting in the effort to produce quality products.

I like to know I have email support whenever I need it, and I love to see a "live chat" feature where you can get instant support if need be.

You can use the link at the bottom of this article to read reviews on the top-ranked spyware removers out there. The reviewers looked closely at the support that each product offers. Firstly were gonna need
the shell and/or casing to put everything in(it's basically like the skeleton of your laptop or desktop for that matter). In a later post I will give you some recommendations on where you can go to acquire your parts from. Sooooo where was I....oh ya next were gonna need our motherboard, now there is a wide selection of manufacturers of motherboards and cpu's and well everything else out there so were gonna have quite a decision on our hands here. I mean depending on what it is that you want to get out of your PC there is a multitude of variations to choose from. Like if it's a gaming machine that you want your gonna need to try and get a motherboard that has the best video card you can find built into it and also it would need to be able to hold a good amount of ram and have a high socket type for the cpu.

I know I know your prolly thinking, "whoa Ryan what the #@$% are you talking about".
I'll get into the more technical terms and what exactly everything does in the next post. I'm just trying to let you know that there is actually quite a bit to think about when it comes to building a laptop. Anyways for now I'm gonna just try and get back to the purpose of this post, which is to tell you the parts needed for your laptop to even run.

OK so next were gonna need some RAM(which stands for Random Access Memory)
which is used as a form of data storage for your PC, like I said I'll get into what exactly everything does in a later post. So next were gonna need a CPU(or Central Processing Unit) in order for the computer to run at all, your also gonna need a hdd(Hard Drive). The components that I have just went over are the main parts that a PC needs to operate, but there are actually a few more needed to allow you to get the full extent out of your laptop.
I'm just gonna briefly tell you about these other parts real quick and that will conclude this post. OK so your also gonna want to get yourself a cd/dvd rom drive and maybe a floppy drive or some sort of card reader, maybe both it's really up to you.

Well I guess that's really about it for the parts needed in order to build your own laptop, in the next post I will go into more detail about what exactly theses parts do, Don't worry I'll try not to get to technical. OK well talk to you later....

Build your Own Laptop

Hello welcome to my blog, I hope your excited to learn how to build your own laptop.
In this first post I would like to tell you a bit about myself and the reason for this blog, so without further adieu...My name is Ryan and currently I am a unemployed, hopeful, entrepreneur who is very determined to make a living online. I personally have no formal education in the field of computer sciences but it's really not all that hard, anything you want to know you can find right here on the Internet, all you have to do is look. OK on to the real reason for this blog and my mindless drivel, which is to educate those who want to learn the intricacies of a computer system. Not just a laptop, although since they are quite smaller they are a bit tougher to put together, but both a PC and laptop have the same basic parts; a motherboard, CPU(central processing unit),R.A.M(random access memory), hard drive, cd-rom drives, floppy drives and a few more things that you have to have to build your own laptop that I will get into in a later post. Well I guess that will be it for this post so I will talk to you next time.....OH by the way I highly recommend getting this book about Upgrading and Repairing Laptops it will help you to better understand some of the technical jargon as we move along.
